On Theo Pinson”s podcast, Run Your Race, Tim Hardaway Jr. shares his unforgettable moments of how he found out he was being traded.

He said he found out he was traded back in 2019 from the New York Knicks to the Dallas Mavericks from his driver, the craziest story indeed.

He recounts his story on the podcast by saying,

“I was at Barneys New York. After practice, I knew something was going on. I got back in the car, and the driver said, did you see this? You”re getting traded. You are getting traded. You, [Kristaps Porzingis], Courtney Lee for Wesley Matthews, DeAndre Jordan, and Dennis Smith Jr. I was like, wow.”

Tim Hardaway Jr has been with the Mavericks for over four years now and above all even signed a four-year, $75 million extension with them in 2021.

He has become a crucial player for the Mavericks and with the contract extension continues to play a key role alongside stars like Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

Even though he won”t become a UFA until 2025 the Mavericks with him as a valuable player will aim for a deep playoff run in the 2023-24 season.

Since his arrival at the Dallas in 2019 he has recorded an average of 15.4 points on 37.8% shooting from downtown.

With the start of the regular season, which is now less than one week away, Hardaway Jr. remains on the roster for a regular start.

Hardaway, 31, is however in question for the starting forward spot from younger players like Josh Green and Derrick Jones Jr.
